Those Who Set Their Seal
Names on a sealed document, priests and Levites and family heads, binding themselves to our Father under oath to specific things: no marriages with the surrounding peoples, no buying on the Sabbath, debts released every seventh year, and steady support for the temple's work and workers.

The People Bind Themselves to the Father
28The rest of the people—priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, temple servants, and all who separated from the peoples of the lands for the law of our Father—with their wives, sons, and daughters, everyone with knowledge and understanding, 29all these joined their fellow nobles, bound by curse and oath to follow the law of our Father given through Moses his servant, and to keep and do all commands of our Sovereign Father, his rulings and his statutes. 30We promise not to give our daughters in marriage to the peoples around us, nor take their daughters for our sons. 31If the peoples of the land bring goods or grain to sell on the Sabbath, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or any holy day. Every seventh year we will let the land rest and cancel every debt.
32We also bind ourselves to give an eighth of an ounce of silver yearly for the service of our Father's house: 33for the bread set before him, the daily grain and burnt offerings, the Sabbath, New Moon, and feast offerings, the holy gifts, and the sin offerings to atone for Israel—for all the work of our Father's house. 34We, priests, Levites, and people, cast lots for the wood offering, to bring it to our Father's house by our families, at set times each year, to burn on our Father's altar, as the law states. 35We also commit to bring firstfruits of our soil and firstfruits of all fruit of every tree, year by year, to the house of our Father. 36We will also bring the firstborn of our sons and livestock, as written in the law, and the firstborn of our herds and flocks, to our Father's house, to the priests serving there. 37We will bring the first of our dough, our contributions, the fruit of every tree, the new wine, and the oil to the priests, to the storerooms of our Father's house; and the tenth of our land to the Levites, since the Levites collect the tenth in all our farming towns. 38A priest descended from Aaron will join the Levites when they collect the tenth, and the Levites will bring a tenth of that up to our Father's house, to the storerooms of the treasury. 39The people of Israel and the Levites will bring the grain, new wine, and oil contributions to the storerooms holding the sanctuary articles, where the serving priests, gatekeepers, and singers stay. We will not neglect our Father's house.
