Galatians 6

6 ¹Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. Watch yourself, so you aren't tempted too. ²Carry one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. ³For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. ⁴Each one must test their own work. Then their reason to boast will be in themselves alone, not in comparison with their neighbor. ⁵For each one will have to carry his own load. ^a a v5 This personal 'load' is everyday responsibility — different from the crisis-weight 'burdens' of verse 2. ⁶The one who is taught the word must share all good things with the one who teaches.

⁷Don't be fooled—our Father can't be mocked: whatever a person sows, they'll also reap. ⁸Whoever sows to his sinful nature reaps corruption from it; whoever sows to the Holy Spirit reaps eternal life from the Spirit. ⁹Let's not tire of doing good—we'll reap a harvest in due time if we don't give up. ¹⁰So then, as we have opportunity, let's do good to all—especially to the household of faith.

Boast Only in the Cross

¹¹See what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand! ¹²Those pushing circumcision on you want to look good. They do this only to avoid being persecuted for Christ's cross. ¹³For not even the circumcised themselves keep the law; they want you circumcised so they can boast about your flesh. ¹⁴But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. ¹⁵Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision matters; only a new creation does. ¹⁶Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule, and to the Israel of our Father.

¹⁷From now on, let no one trouble me, for I carry Jesus's marks on my body. ^b b v17 Paul's 'marks' are the scars left by beatings and suffering he endured for preaching Jesus.

¹⁸The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.
