Ezekiel 42

42 ¹ He led me out to the outer court on the north, to the chamber facing the separate courtyard and the north building. ² Its length was about a hundred fifty feet at the north door, its width about seventy-five feet. ³ Gallery faced gallery in three tiers, opposite the inner court's thirty feet and the outer court's pavement. ⁴ Before the chambers ran a ten-cubit-wide walkway, with an inner path one cubit wide; their doors faced north. ⁵ The upper rooms were shorter, because the galleries took more space from them than from the building's lower and middle rooms. ⁶ They were three tiers with no pillars like the courts'; so the upper rooms were set back from the ground more than the lower and middle ones. ⁷ An outer wall ran beside the chambers toward the outer court, facing them, about seventy-five feet long. ⁸ The rooms by the outer court were seventy-five feet long; those facing the temple, a hundred fifty feet. ⁹ Below these chambers, on the east, was the entrance for one entering them from the outer court.

¹⁰ Along the thickness of the court wall eastward, facing the separate courtyard and the building, were chambers, ¹¹ A walkway ran before them, matching the north chambers—same length and width, same exits, layout, and doors. ¹² Like the doors of the south chambers, a door stood at the head of the path, the path facing the east wall, where one enters them.

¹³ Then he said to me, "The north and south chambers facing the separate courtyard are the holy chambers, where the priests who draw near to our Father will eat the most holy offerings. There they will place them — the grain, sin, and guilt offerings — for the place is holy. ^a a v13 These most holy offerings — given for sin and guilt — point ahead to Jesus, the once-for-all offering who opens the way to draw near to our Father. ¹⁴ When the priests enter, they must not leave the holy place for the outer court until they lay down the garments they serve in, for these are holy; they put on other garments before approaching the people's area.

¹⁵ When he finished measuring the inner temple, he led me out through the east gate and measured all around it. ¹⁶ He measured the east side with the measuring reed: about a mile all around. ^b b v16 A measuring reed was about ten feet (roughly three meters) long — the rod used to mark out the temple's sacred dimensions. ¹⁷ He measured the north side: about a mile all around. ¹⁸ He measured the south side: about a mile. ¹⁹ He turned to the west side and measured about a mile. ²⁰ He measured all four sides. It had a wall around it, about a mile long and a mile wide, to separate the holy from the common.
