Psalms 43

Book

Vindicate Me, My Father

The same complaint continues — why walk around in gloom, rejected. Instead of asking for relief he asks for light and truth to be sent as guides, to bring him back to the altar and his greatest joy. The refrain returns: hope in our Father.

Chapter 43.

Vindicate me, my Father, and defend my cause against an unfaithful nation; rescue me from the deceitful and unjust man. For you are my Father, my stronghold. Why have you rejected me? Why must I walk in gloom, oppressed by the enemy? Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live. Then I will go to the altar of our Father, to him, my greatest joy; and I will praise my Father with the lyre. Why are you downcast, my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in our Father; for I will yet praise him, my salvation and my Father.
