Where Does My Help Come From?
A Song of Ascents.
A traveler looks up at the hills, where both danger and shrines sat, and locates his help elsewhere — his Father, Maker of heaven and earth, who never dozes off. The promise is escort rather than exemption: your going out and your coming in.
121 1I lift up my eyes to the hills—from where will my help come?
2My help comes from my Father, the Maker of heaven and earth.
3He will not let your foot slip; he who watches over you will not slumber. 4Indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
5Your Father watches over you; your Father is the shade at your right hand. 6The sun will not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
7Your Father will keep you from all harm; he will watch over your life. 8Your Father will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.
