A registry psalm. Egypt, Babylon, Philistia, Tyre and Cush are entered in our Father's record as born in Zion — old enemies listed as native citizens. The singers and dancers answer with a single line: all my springs are in you.
87 1He has founded his city on the holy mountains; 2our Father loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. 3Glorious things are spoken of you, city of our Father.
4"I will record Egypt and Babylon among those who know me; see, Philistia and Tyre, with Cush—this one was born there." a a v4 Here "Rahab" is a poetic name for Egypt, not the woman of Jericho — naming Israel's old oppressor among the nations our Father counts as born in his city. 5And of Zion it will be said, "This one and that one were born in her," and the Most High himself will establish her. 6Our Father will count, as he registers the peoples, "This one was born there."
7Singers and dancers alike say, "All my springs are in you."
