Peace Offerings

Chapter 3.

If someone's offering is a peace offering, and he brings it from the herd, whether male or female, he must present it without blemish before me. 1 1 v1 The peace offering was the one sacrifice shared as a meal — the worshiper, the priests, and our Father at one table. It celebrated fellowship and wholeness with him.

Bringing It to the Altar

He is to lay his hand on the head of his offering and slaughter it at the entrance to the tent of meeting, and Aaron's sons the priests will splash the blood against the altar on all sides. From the peace offering he must present to me a food offering made by fire: the fat that covers the inner parts and all the fat that is on them, both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, which he is to remove along with the kidneys. Then Aaron's sons will burn it on the altar atop the burnt offering that lies on the wood over the fire — a food offering, a pleasing aroma to me.

If his peace offering to me is from the flock, whether male or female, he must present it without blemish. If he brings a lamb as his offering, he is to present it before me, lay his hand on the head of his offering, and slaughter it in front of the tent of meeting; then Aaron's sons will splash its blood against the altar on all sides. From the peace offering he must present a food offering to me by fire: its fat, the entire fat tail cut off close to the backbone, the fat that covers the inner parts and all the fat that is on them, both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, which he is to remove along with the kidneys. The priest will burn it on the altar as food, an offering made to me by fire.

If his offering is a goat, he is to present it before me, lay his hand on its head, and slaughter it in front of the tent of meeting; then Aaron's sons will splash its blood against the altar on all sides. From it he must present his offering, a food offering to me by fire: the fat that covers the inner parts and all the fat that is on them, both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, which he is to remove along with the kidneys. The priest will burn them on the altar as food, an offering made by fire, a pleasing aroma. All the fat is mine.

This is a lasting rule for the generations to come, wherever you live: you must never eat any fat or any blood.
