The Father's Path to Forgiveness
4 1 Our Father spoke to Moses, saying:
2 "Speak to the children of Israel and say: When a person sins unintentionally against any of the commands of our Father — doing what ought not to be done — and breaks any one of them,
3 if it is the anointed priest who sins, bringing guilt on the people, then he shall offer to our Father a young bull without blemish as a sin offering for the sin he has committed. 1 1 v3 The sin offering carried the guilt of the one who had sinned and was put to death in their place. It pointed forward to Jesus, who took our guilt upon himself once for all. 4 He shall bring the bull to the entrance of the tent of meeting before our Father, lay his hand on the bull's head, and slaughter it before our Father. 5 Then the anointed priest shall take some of the bull's blood and bring it into the tent of meeting. 6 He shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of it seven times before our Father, in front of the veil of the sanctuary. 7 The priest shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense before our Father, which is in the tent of meeting; and he shall pour out all the rest of the bull's blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 8 He shall remove all the fat of the bull of the sin offering: the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, 9 the two kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the lobe of the liver, which he shall remove together with the kidneys — 10 just as these are removed from the ox of the peace offering. And the priest shall burn them on the altar of burnt offering. 11 But the hide of the bull and all its flesh, with its head and legs, its entrails and dung — 12 all the rest of the bull — he shall carry outside the camp to a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on a wood fire; it shall be burned where the ashes are poured out.
13 If the whole congregation of Israel sins unintentionally, and the matter goes unnoticed by the assembly, and they do any one of the things our Father has commanded not to be done, and so become guilty — 14 when the sin they have committed becomes known, the assembly shall offer a young bull as a sin offering and bring it before the tent of meeting. 15 The elders of the congregation shall lay their hands on the bull's head before our Father, and the bull shall be slaughtered before our Father. 16 Then the anointed priest shall bring some of the bull's blood into the tent of meeting. 17 He shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it seven times before our Father, in front of the veil. 18 He shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar that is before our Father in the tent of meeting, and pour out all the rest of the blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 19 He shall remove all its fat and burn it on the altar. 20 He shall treat this bull exactly as he treated the bull of the sin offering. In this way the priest shall make atonement for them, and they will be forgiven. 21 Then he shall carry the bull outside the camp and burn it as he burned the first bull; it is the sin offering for the assembly.
22 When a leader sins and unintentionally does any of the things our Father has commanded not to be done, and so becomes guilty, 23 if the sin he has committed becomes known to him, he shall bring as his offering a male goat without blemish. 24 He shall lay his hand on the goat's head and slaughter it in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered before our Father; it is a sin offering. 25 The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar. 26 He shall burn all its fat on the altar like the fat of the peace offering. So the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin, and he will be forgiven.
27 If anyone among the common people sins unintentionally by doing any one of the things our Father has commanded not to be done, and so becomes guilty, 28 if the sin he has committed becomes known to him, he shall bring as his offering a female goat without blemish for the sin he has committed. 29 He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and slaughter it in the place of the burnt offering. 30 The priest shall take some of its blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out all the rest of its blood at the base of the altar. 31 He shall remove all its fat, as the fat is removed from the peace offering, and the priest shall burn it on the altar as a pleasing aroma to our Father. So the priest shall make atonement for him, and he will be forgiven.
32 If he brings a lamb as his sin offering, he shall bring a female without blemish. 33 He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and slaughter it as a sin offering in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered. 34 The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out all the rest of its blood at the base of the altar. 35 He shall remove all its fat, as the fat of the lamb is removed from the peace offering, and the priest shall burn it on the altar atop the offerings made by fire to our Father. So the priest shall make atonement for him for the sin he has committed, and he will be forgiven.
