The Snare Is Broken
A song of ascents. Of David.
A national escape story told as a series of near misses: swallowed alive, swept away by the torrent. The picture that stays is a bird out of a broken snare — proof the help was in our Father's name, not in themselves.
124 1If our Father had not been for us—let Israel say it now, 2if our Father had not been for us when people rose up against us, 3then they would have swallowed us alive, when their anger blazed against us; 4then the waters would have swept us away, the torrent would have swept over us; 5then the raging waters would have swept over us.
6Blessed be our Father, who did not give us up as prey to their teeth! 7We have escaped like a bird from the hunters' snare; the snare is broken, and we have escaped! 8Our help is in the name of our Father, who made heaven and earth.
