A Rhythm of Coming Near

Chapter 28.

Our Father said to Moses,

The Daily Offering

"Command the children of Israel and say to them: Be careful to present to me at its appointed time my offering, my food for my food offerings, a pleasing aroma to me. And say to them: This is the food offering you are to present to me: two unblemished year-old lambs every day as a regular burnt offering. The one lamb you are to offer in the morning, and the other lamb you are to offer at twilight, together with about two quarts of fine flour for a grain offering, mixed with about one quart of pressed oil. It is a regular burnt offering, ordained at Mount Sinai for a pleasing aroma, a food offering to me. Its drink offering is to be about one quart for each lamb; in the holy place you are to pour out a drink offering of strong drink to me. The other lamb you are to offer at twilight; offer it with a grain offering and a drink offering like those of the morning, a food offering, a pleasing aroma to me.

The Sabbath Table

On the Sabbath day, offer two unblemished year-old lambs, with about four quarts of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, and its drink offering.

Sabbath Offering

This is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.

Each New Month

At the beginning of each of your months you are to present a burnt offering to me: two young bulls, one ram, and seven unblemished year-old male lambs,

Monthly Offerings

with about six quarts of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering for each bull, about four quarts of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering for the one ram, and about two quarts of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering for each lamb. It is a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma, a food offering to me. Their drink offerings are to be about two quarts of wine for a bull, just over a quart for the ram, and about one quart for a lamb. This is the burnt offering for each new moon throughout the months of the year. And one male goat is to be offered to me as a sin offering, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.

Passover

In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, is the Passover to me.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread

On the fifteenth day of this month is a feast; for seven days unleavened bread is to be eaten. On the first day there is to be a holy assembly; you must do no ordinary work. You are to present a food offering, a burnt offering to me: two young bulls, one ram, and seven year-old male lambs; see that they are unblemished. With each bull offer a grain offering of about six quarts of fine flour mixed with oil; with the ram, about four quarts; and with each of the seven lambs, about two quarts; and one male goat as a sin offering to make atonement for you. Offer these in addition to the morning burnt offering, which is the regular burnt offering. In this way you are to offer the food of a pleasing aroma to me each day for seven days, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering. On the seventh day you are to hold a holy assembly; you must do no ordinary work.

The Feast of Weeks

On the day of firstfruits, when you present a grain offering of new grain to me at your Feast of Weeks, you are to hold a holy assembly; you must do no ordinary work.

Firstfruits Before Our Father

You are to present a burnt offering as a pleasing aroma to me: two young bulls, one ram, and seven year-old male lambs. With them comes a grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil: about six quarts for each bull, about four quarts for the one ram, and about two quarts for each of the seven lambs; with one male goat to make atonement for you. Offer these in addition to the regular burnt offering and its grain offering; see that your animals are unblemished, and offer them with their drink offerings.
