Our Father Speaks of Land Yet Unclaimed
13 1 Now Joshua was old, well advanced in years, and our Father said to him, "You are old and advanced in years, and very much of the land still remains to be taken."
2 This is the land that still remains: all the regions of the Philistines, and all the territory of the Geshurites, 3 from the Shihor, which is east of Egypt, north to the border of Ekron (it is counted as Canaanite); the five rulers of the Philistines — those of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron — and the Avvites 4 in the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that belongs to the Sidonians, as far as Aphek, to the border of the Amorites; 5 and the land of the Gebalites, and all Lebanon to the east, from Baal-gad below Mount Hermon to Lebo-hamath. 6 All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephoth-maim, all the Sidonians — I myself will drive them out before the children of Israel. Just be sure to allot the land to Israel as an inheritance, as I have commanded you. 7 So divide this land as an inheritance among the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh."
Inheritance East of the Jordan
8 With the other half-tribe, the Reubenites and the Gadites had already received their inheritance, which Moses gave them beyond the Jordan to the east, just as Moses the servant of our Father had given it to them:
9 from Aroer on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and the city in the middle of the valley, and all the plain from Medeba to Dibon; 10 and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, as far as the border of the Ammonites; 11 and Gilead, and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan as far as Salecah; 12 all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei — he alone was left of the remnant of the Rephaim. Moses had defeated them and driven them out. 13 But the children of Israel did not drive out the Geshurites or the Maacathites, so Geshur and Maacath live among Israel to this day.
14 Only the tribe of Levi was given no inheritance; the offerings made by fire to our Father, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, as he had promised them. 1 1 v14 Levi alone received no land, because the priests' true portion is our Father himself — closeness to him, not territory, is their inheritance.
The Father's Gift to Reuben
15 Moses gave an inheritance to the tribe of the children of Reuben according to their clans.
16 Their territory was from Aroer on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and the city in the middle of the valley, and all the plain by Medeba; 17 Heshbon and all its cities on the plain — Dibon, and Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon, 18 and Jahaz, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath, 19 and Kiriathaim, and Sibmah, and Zereth-shahar on the hill above the valley, 20 and Beth-peor, and the slopes of Pisgah, and Beth-jeshimoth, 21 and all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses defeated along with the leaders of Midian — Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba — the princes of Sihon who lived in the land. 22 The children of Israel also put to the sword Balaam son of Beor, the diviner, among the rest of those they killed. 23 The border of the children of Reuben was the Jordan and its bank. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben according to their clans, the cities and their villages.
The Father's Gift to Gad
24 Moses gave an inheritance to the tribe of Gad, to the children of Gad according to their clans.
25 Their territory was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the Ammonites, as far as Aroer, which is east of Rabbah, 26 and from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the border of Debir, 27 and in the valley, Beth-haram, and Beth-nimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, the Jordan and its bank, as far as the edge of the Sea of Chinnereth, beyond the Jordan to the east. 2 2 v27 Chinnereth is an ancient name for the Sea of Galilee. 28 This is the inheritance of the children of Gad according to their clans, the cities and their villages.
The Father's Gift to Eastern Manasseh
29 Moses gave an inheritance to the half-tribe of Manasseh; it was for the half-tribe of the children of Manasseh according to their clans.
30 Their territory extended from Mahanaim through all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair in Bashan, sixty cities; 31 and half of Gilead, with Ashtaroth and Edrei, the royal cities of Og in Bashan, went to the children of Machir son of Manasseh — to half of the children of Machir according to their clans.
32 These are the inheritances Moses distributed in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan east of Jericho.
33 But Moses gave the tribe of Levi no inheritance; our Father, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, as he had promised them.
