The Father Destroys Gog's Army
39 1 "And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog and say: This is what the Sovereign Father says: Look, I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal." 2 "I will turn you around and drive you on, and bring you up from the remotest parts of the north, and lead you against the mountains of Israel." 3 "Then I will strike your bow from your left hand and make your arrows drop from your right hand."
4 "On the mountains of Israel you will fall, you and all your hordes and the peoples who are with you. I will give you as food to birds of prey of every kind and to the beasts of the field." 5 "You will fall in the open field, for I have spoken, declares the Sovereign Father."
6 "I will send fire on Magog and on those who dwell securely in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the Father."
7 "And I will make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will not let my holy name be profaned anymore. Then the nations will know that I am the Father, the Holy One in Israel." 8 "Look, it is coming and it will be done, declares the Sovereign Father. This is the day of which I have spoken."
9 "Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and make fires of the weapons and burn them—shields and bucklers, bows and arrows, war clubs and spears—and they will use them for fuel for seven years." 10 "They will not gather wood from the field or cut it from the forests, for they will make their fires of the weapons. They will plunder those who plundered them and loot those who looted them, declares the Sovereign Father."
11 "On that day I will give Gog a burial place in Israel, the Valley of the Travelers, east of the sea. It will block the path of travelers, for there they will bury Gog and all his multitude, and they will call it the Valley of Hamon-gog." 1 1 v11 Hamon-gog means "the multitude of Gog" — the valley is named for the vast horde buried there.
12 "For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, in order to cleanse the land." 13 "All the people of the land will bury them, and it will bring them renown on the day I display my glory, declares the Sovereign Father."
14 "They will set apart men to pass through the land regularly, burying those who remain on the surface of the ground, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make their search." 15 "As they pass through the land, anyone who sees a human bone will set up a marker beside it, until the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon-gog." 16 "(There will also be a city called Hamonah there.) So they will cleanse the land."
17 "As for you, son of man, this is what the Sovereign Father says: Speak to the birds of every kind and to all the beasts of the field: Assemble and come, gather from all around to the sacrifice I am preparing for you, a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel; you will eat flesh and drink blood." 18 "You will eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the princes of the earth—rams, lambs, goats, and bulls, all of them fatlings of Bashan." 19 "You will eat fat until you are gorged and drink blood until you are drunk, at the sacrifice I am preparing for you." 20 "At my table you will be filled with horses and charioteers, with mighty men and warriors of every kind, declares the Sovereign Father."
The Father Restores His People
21 "I will set my glory among the nations, and all the nations will see the judgment I have executed and the hand I have laid on them." 22 "And from that day forward the house of Israel will know that I am their Father." 23 "And the nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile for their iniquity, because they were unfaithful to me. So I hid my face from them and gave them into the hand of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword." 24 "I dealt with them according to their uncleanness and their transgressions, and I hid my face from them."
25 "Therefore this is what the Sovereign Father says: Now I will restore the fortunes of Jacob and have compassion on the whole house of Israel, and I will be jealous for my holy name." 26 "They will bear their shame and all the treachery they committed against me, when they dwell securely in their land with no one to make them afraid." 27 "When I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them from the lands of their enemies, I will show myself holy through them in the sight of many nations." 28 "Then they will know that I am their Father, because I sent them into exile among the nations and then gathered them back to their own land, leaving none of them behind anymore." 29 "And I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Sovereign Father."
