Our Father Speaks
34 1 And our Father spoke to Moses, saying,
Borders of the Promised Land
2 Command the children of Israel, and say to them: When you come into the land of Canaan, this is the land that will come to you as your inheritance, the land of Canaan according to its borders. 3 Your southern border will run from the wilderness of Zin along the edge of Edom, and it will start from the end of the Salt Sea on the east. 4 Your border will turn south of the Ascent of Akrabbim, pass on to Zin, and reach south of Kadesh-barnea; then it will go on to Hazar-addar and pass along to Azmon. 5 The border will turn from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, and it will end at the Sea.
6 Your western border will be the Great Sea and its coast. 1 1 v6 The Great Sea is the Mediterranean.
7 This will be your northern border: from the Great Sea you will mark out your line to Mount Hor; 8 from Mount Hor you will mark out a line to Lebo-hamath, and the border will end at Zedad; 9 then the border will extend to Ziphron and end at Hazar-enan. This will be your northern border.
10 You will mark out your eastern border from Hazar-enan to Shepham; 11 the border will go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain; then it will go down and reach the slope east of the Sea of Chinnereth; 2 2 v11 The Sea of Chinnereth is the lake later called the Sea of Galilee. 12 the border will go down to the Jordan and end at the Salt Sea. This will be your land, defined by its borders all around.
13 So Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying: This is the land you are to inherit by lot, which our Father has commanded to give to the nine tribes and the half-tribe. 14 For the tribe of the sons of Reuben by their fathers' houses, and the tribe of the sons of Gad by their fathers' houses, have already received their inheritance, and the half-tribe of Manasseh has received its inheritance. 15 The two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance across the Jordan from Jericho, eastward toward the sunrise.
Our Father Speaks Again
16 And our Father spoke to Moses, saying,
Eleazar, Joshua, and the Tribal Leaders
17 These are the names of the men who will divide the land among you as your inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun. 18 And you will take one leader from each tribe to divide the land for inheritance.
19 These are the names of the men: from the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh; 20 from the tribe of the sons of Simeon, Shemuel the son of Ammihud; 21 from the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon; 22 from the tribe of the sons of Dan, a leader, Bukki the son of Jogli; 23 from the sons of Joseph: from the tribe of the sons of Manasseh, a leader, Hanniel the son of Ephod; 24 and from the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, a leader, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan; 25 from the tribe of the sons of Zebulun, a leader, Elizaphan the son of Parnach; 26 from the tribe of the sons of Issachar, a leader, Paltiel the son of Azzan; 27 from the tribe of the sons of Asher, a leader, Ahihud the son of Shelomi; 28 and from the tribe of the sons of Naphtali, a leader, Pedahel the son of Ammihud. 29 These are the ones our Father commanded to divide the inheritance among the children of Israel in the land of Canaan.
