The Glory of Our Father Appears

Chapter 9.

On the eighth day Moses called Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel. He said to Aaron, "Take for yourself a bull calf for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering, both without blemish, and present them before our Father." And say to the people of Israel, "Take a male goat for a sin offering, and a calf and a lamb, each a year old and without blemish, for a burnt offering, and an ox and a ram for a peace offering, to sacrifice before our Father, along with a grain offering mixed with oil; for today our Father will appear to you."

So they brought what Moses commanded to the front of the tent of meeting, and all the congregation came forward and stood before our Father. And Moses said, "This is what our Father commanded you to do, that the glory of our Father may appear to you."

Then Moses said to Aaron, "Come to the altar and offer your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people; present the offering of the people and make atonement for them, as our Father has commanded."

So Aaron went to the altar and slaughtered the calf of the sin offering, which was for himself. And the sons of Aaron brought the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood and put it on the horns of the altar, and poured out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. But he burned the fat, the kidneys, and the long lobe of the liver from the sin offering on the altar, as our Father had commanded Moses. He burned the flesh and the skin with fire outside the camp.

Then he slaughtered the burnt offering, and Aaron's sons handed him the blood, and he threw it against the sides of the altar. And they handed him the burnt offering piece by piece, along with the head, and he burned them on the altar. He washed the entrails and the legs and burned them with the burnt offering on the altar.

Then he presented the people's offering. He took the goat of the sin offering that was for the people, slaughtered it, and offered it for sin, like the first one. He presented the burnt offering and offered it as prescribed. And he presented the grain offering, took a handful of it, and burned it on the altar, in addition to the burnt offering of the morning.

Then he slaughtered the ox and the ram, the sacrifice of peace offerings for the people. Aaron's sons handed him the blood, and he threw it against the sides of the altar. But the fat portions of the ox and the ram—the fat tail, the covering of fat, the kidneys, and the long lobe of the liver— they placed the fat portions on the breasts, and he burned the fat portions on the altar. But Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh as a wave offering before our Father, as Moses had commanded.

Then Aaron lifted his hands toward the people and blessed them, and he came down from offering the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings.

Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting, and when they came out they blessed the people; and the glory of our Father appeared to all the people. And fire came out from our Father's presence and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell on their faces. 1 1 v24 The fire that fell and consumed the offering was our Father's own answer — his visible acceptance of the atonement made on the people's behalf, drawing them near to him.
