Leviticus 26

Book
Father's Heart Bible

No Other Gods

Chapter 26.

You shall not make for yourselves worthless idols, and you shall not set up a carved image or a sacred pillar, and you shall not place a sculpted stone in your land to bow down before it; for I am your Father.

When You Walk With Me

You shall keep my Sabbaths and revere my sanctuary; I am your Father.

If you walk in my statutes and keep my commandments and carry them out, then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land will yield its produce, and the trees of the field will yield their fruit. Your threshing will last until the grape harvest, and the grape harvest will last until the sowing; you will eat your bread until you are full and dwell securely in your land.

I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down with no one to make you afraid. I will remove dangerous beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your land. You will chase your enemies, and they will fall before you by the sword. Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand; your enemies will fall before you by the sword.

I will turn toward you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will confirm my covenant with you. You will still be eating the old harvest, long stored, when you must clear out the old to make room for the new.

I will set my dwelling among you, and my heart will not reject you. I will walk among you and be your Father, and you will be my children. I am your Father, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, so that you would no longer be their slaves. I broke the bars of your yoke and made you walk upright.

The Father's Discipline

But if you will not listen to me and will not carry out all these commandments,

Sevenfold Turning Away

if you despise my statutes and your heart rejects my rules, so that you do not carry out all my commandments but break my covenant, then I myself will do this to you: I will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting disease and fever that consume the eyes and drain away life. You will sow your seed for nothing, for your enemies will eat it. I will set my face against you, and you will be struck down before your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when no one pursues you.

And if even after this you will not listen to me, then I will discipline you sevenfold for your sins, and I will break the pride of your strength, and I will make your sky like iron and your ground like bronze. Your strength will be spent for nothing, for your land will not yield its produce, and the trees of the land will not yield their fruit.

If you walk against me and refuse to listen to me, I will go on striking you sevenfold for your sins. I will send wild beasts against you, and they will rob you of your children and destroy your livestock and make you few in number, until your roads lie deserted.

And if even these things have not turned you back to me, and you keep walking against me, then I too will walk against you, and I myself will strike you sevenfold for your sins. I will bring a sword upon you that will carry out the covenant's justice. When you gather into your cities, I will send a plague among you, and you will be handed over to the enemy. When I cut off your supply of bread, ten women will bake your bread in a single oven and ration it to you by weight, and you will eat and not be satisfied.

And if in spite of this you will not listen to me but keep walking against me, then I will walk against you in fury, and I myself will discipline you sevenfold for your sins. You will eat the flesh of your sons, and you will eat the flesh of your daughters. I will destroy your high places and cut down your incense altars, and I will pile your corpses on the lifeless forms of your idols, and my heart will reject you.

I will turn your cities into ruins and lay your sanctuaries waste, and I will not smell your pleasing aromas. I myself will make the land desolate, so that your enemies who settle in it will be appalled at it. I will scatter you among the nations and draw out the sword after you, and your land will become a desolation and your cities a ruin.

Then the land will enjoy its Sabbaths all the days it lies desolate while you are in the land of your enemies; then the land will rest and enjoy its Sabbaths. All the days it lies desolate it will have the rest it did not have during your Sabbaths while you lived in it.

As for those of you who survive, I will send weakness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. The sound of a wind-driven leaf will chase them, and they will flee as one flees the sword and fall when no one pursues. They will stumble over one another as though before the sword, though no one is pursuing, and you will have no strength to stand before your enemies.

You will perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies will swallow you up. Those of you who are left will waste away in their iniquity in the lands of your enemies; and also because of the iniquities of their fathers they will waste away with them.

He Will Not Forget Them

But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, in the unfaithfulness they showed toward me, and also that they walked against me, so that I too walked against them and brought them into the land of their enemies—if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled and they make amends for their iniquity, 1 1 v41 Uncircumcised heart: a heart that is closed and hardened, not yet yielded to God — drawn from circumcision as the covenant sign of belonging to him. then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham I will remember, and I will remember the land.

For the land will be abandoned by them and will enjoy its Sabbaths while it lies desolate without them, and they will make amends for their iniquity, because they despised my rules and their heart rejected my statutes.

Yet in spite of all this, while they are in the land of their enemies, I will not despise them or reject them so as to destroy them and break my covenant with them, for I am their Father. For their sake I will remember the covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt before the eyes of the nations, that I might be their Father: I am your Father.

These are the statutes, the rules, and the laws that our Father established between himself and the people of Israel on Mount Sinai through Moses.
