The River Flowing from the Temple
47 1 Then he brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and there was water flowing out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the temple faced east. The water was flowing down from below the south side of the temple, south of the altar. 2 Then he led me out through the north gate and brought me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and there the water was trickling out on the south side.
3 As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off about fifteen hundred feet and led me through the water—water ankle-deep. 4 Again he measured another fifteen hundred feet and led me through the water—water knee-deep. Again he measured another fifteen hundred feet and led me through—water up to the waist. 5 Again he measured another fifteen hundred feet, and it was a river that I could not cross, for the water had risen—water deep enough to swim in, a river that could not be crossed.
6 He said to me, "Son of man, have you seen this?" Then he led me back along the bank of the river.
7 As I returned, I saw very many trees on both banks of the river.
8 And he said to me, "This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah; and when it enters the sea, the sea of stagnant waters, the water becomes fresh. 9 And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For when this water reaches there, the sea waters become fresh; so everything will live wherever the river goes. 10 Fishermen will stand beside it; from En-gedi to En-eglaim it will be a place for spreading nets. Its fish will be of very many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea. 11 But its swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they are left for salt. 12 And along the river, on both banks, all kinds of trees for food will grow. Their leaves will not wither nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing. 1 1 v12 The river from our Father's sanctuary, lined with trees whose leaves bring healing, flows again in John's vision—the river of life from the throne, with the tree whose leaves are for the healing of the nations (Revelation 22:1-2).
The Father Divides the Land
13 This is what the Sovereign Father says: These are the boundaries for dividing the land as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel: Joseph will receive two portions. 14 Divide it equally; I made a solemn oath to give it to your fathers, and this land will come to you as your inheritance.
15 This is the boundary of the land: On the north side, from the Great Sea through Hethlon to Lebo-hamath, Zedad,
16 Berothah, Sibraim (which lies between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath), as far as Hazer-hatticon, which is on the border of Hauran. 17 So the boundary will run from the sea to Hazar-enan, at the border of Damascus, with the border of Hamath to the north. This is the north side.
18 On the east side, the boundary will run between Hauran and Damascus, along the Jordan between Gilead and the land of Israel, to the eastern sea and as far as Tamar. This is the east side.
19 On the south side, southward, the boundary will run from Tamar as far as the waters of Meribath-kadesh, then along the Brook of Egypt to the Great Sea. This is the south side, toward the Negev.
20 On the west side, the Great Sea will be the boundary to the point opposite Lebo-hamath. This is the west side.
21 So divide this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel. 22 Allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the foreigners who reside among you and have had children among you. They are to be like native-born Israelites to you; with you they will receive an inheritance among the tribes of Israel. 23 In whatever tribe the foreigner resides, give him his inheritance there, declares the Sovereign Father.
