Craftsmen Called by Name

Chapter 31.

Our Father spoke to Moses:

Bezalel and Oholiab

"See, I have called by name Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with my Spirit, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge, and with every kind of craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, in silver, and in bronze, in cutting stones for setting and in carving wood, to work in every kind of craft. And I myself have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to work alongside him. And I have put wisdom in the heart of every skilled person, so that they may make all that I have commanded you: the tent of meeting, the ark of the testimony, the atonement cover that is over it, and all the furnishings of the tent; the table and its utensils, the pure lampstand with all its utensils, and the altar of incense; the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the basin with its stand; the woven garments, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons for serving as priests; and the anointing oil and the fragrant incense for the holy place. They are to make them just as I have commanded you."

The Sabbath Given as a Sign

Then our Father said to Moses:

Rest, Holy to Your Father

"You yourself are to speak to the Israelites: 'Above all you must keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, so that you may know that I am your Father who sanctifies you. 1 1 v13 Our Father gives the Sabbath as the sign that he, not their own effort, sets his people apart as holy. You must keep the Sabbath, because it is holy for you. Everyone who desecrates it must surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person will be cut off from among his people. Work may be done for six days, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to me. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must surely be put to death. So the Israelites are to keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days I made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day I rested and was refreshed.'"

Tablets Written by His Hand

When he had finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written by the finger of our Father.
